BWF Off the Court

The BWF is the international governing body for the sport of badminton, recognised by the International Olympic Committee. With 1.3 million followers on instagram, 1.7 million on facebook and 2.44 million on youtube, social media engagement is an important part of connecting with their audience.

The challenge

We were commissioned by the BWF to create a series of short animations, taking audio recordings of some of the best known athletes in the sport, and reimagining them in new and bizarre scenarios. They wanted them to be fun, amusing and engaging. Something completely different to the majority of their output.

The solution

We came up with a range of scenes for each clip, working with the BWA to pick out six to combine in the initial video. We went with a hand drawn style, with exaggerated impressions of the athletes.
